High Stakes Lunch at jungle [8]

jungle [8] designer Aldis Ozolins was still recovering at lunch today from his recent “all-nighter,” a late night/early morning marathon he endured to meet art school deadlines. Visibly drowsy, he was at high risk for a mid-meal lasagna face plant. Staffers took it upon themselves to keep his eyelids open by prodding him with stories of evil things like ghosts, fires and Nick Cave.

The supernatural stories began when a glass of water moved inexplicably across the table, seemingly propelled by the same ghost that haunts Ouija boards. Lainie interpreted it as spirits from the netherworld revealing their outer limit desires, or something like that. Sarah T., the realist, explained the glass was resting on a thin layer of water and that the table was a slanted. The highlight of ghost talk came when Sarah K. described the shrine she would make to appease the two Latino haunts living in her house: a Bud Light can wearing a miniature Dodgers baseball cap.

I don’t recall how we got on the subject but apparently a large portion of jungle [8] staffers have a story about how they, or someone close to them, have nearly burned a house down. I’m not sure it’s a good idea to have multiple pyromaniacs under the same roof, but it should make for a good.

All the talk about sleep deprivation began to make me tired. Or maybe it was the gut full of lasagna. I regretted skipping the Cappuccino Machine 101 class offered earlier in the day. Luckily sugar is readily available in jungle [8] headquarters. A handful of M&M’s and I’m sprinting to the finish line. I warned Lainie that offering me an open door fridge policy would risk putting jungle [8] into the red. She didn’t seem too concerned.
