It had been raining for the past week, and the sun was nowhere in sight. The weather was cold, and I was feeling even colder. As I sat at my computer, diligently working away on PlanJam iconography and trying to ignore the cold, I was suddenly distracted by a sweet, aromatic smell.
The smell was of grilled onions, along with mushrooms and olives being prepared on the stove by my employer. As I drifted downstairs, I caught sight of her roasting potatoes with a generous amount of olive oil along with a medley of herbs, including rosemary, lemon pepper seasoning and a generous amount of sea salt.
My employer was simultaneously grilling the aforementioned vegetables, and then adding a mixture of eggs and milk to the vegetables to form a Spanish tortilla. Melted cheddar cheese and a touch of sour cream was added to complement the dish.
And while she was preparing all of that, she also put together a light and crisp spinach salad with Japanese miso dressing. I must say the meal was the best that I’d had in a long while.
Did I mention I was no longer cold?
