jungle [8]

A memorable lunch

As today is not only the last day of January, but also this writer’s last day in the jungle, the natives took a lengthy safari to Ethiopia. We crossed that vast ocean called the 10 freeway to make a visit to Rosalind’s Ethiopian Restaurant. Drained by our lengthy trek and unaccustomed to the bright sun unfiltered by the canopies of jungle leaves, we were welcomed by the people of Ethiopia and given offerings of honey wine to quench their thirst. Which was followed by typical jungle fare, a tasty salad, and then an Ethiopian main course of vegetable and meat dishes eaten with injera. Which meant of course, we ate with our hands!

We departed Ethiopia with bellies full of good food and wine, ready to make the trip home. Feeling adventurous and in good company, we felt prepared to make the scenic drive home. We passed through Mexico, Korea, and flitted by the Philippines and China.

Finally arriving home to our homey jungle and welcomed by Henry, who as always, missed the natives’ presence.
