For the love of coffee

Browsing the New York Times online and enjoying a cappuccino a la jungle [8] (courtesy of Greg), I was intrigued to discover an article this morning on Starbucks, and it appears that things that are not too peachy.
For the first time ever, we are hearing about a mom-and-pop coffee shop and a Starbucks right next to each other, and surprise! the Starbucks has closed. Just a fluke? According to the article, it’s not. The empire has lost its sophisticated charm in the eyes of consumers. Instead of bringing good coffee to people who wanted it, Starbucks built an empire based on mediocre coffee. When I read the article at noon, there were already 143 comments on the article, most of them re-iterating the fact that Starbucks coffee is bad, over-priced, and takes too long. Yikes!
Karma? Read past musings on fair trade coffee and Starbuck’s Cafe Estima.
